BORN IN 1993
SUCCESS FROM THE START
The Rowville Knights were born out of a group of parents meeting in November 1993 to discuss forming a new junior football club to as an alternative to the local offerings available at the time. At this point in time the club was born and adopted the name St Simon’s Community Football Club (SSCFC). The club was accepted into the Knox Junior Football Association (KJFA) on the 14th December 1993 at the league AGM to compete in the 1994 season.
In it’s inaugural season the club fielded two sides in the KJFA, U10’s and U12’s, with fifty players. There were no facilities at the ground, so the Rowville Community Centre Tennis Pavilion was used for club rooms and Rowville Primary School for toilets, which was about 200m away. In 1996, an application was approved by Council to build a pavilion at Stud Park Ground, which was completed in 1997 for the commencement of the season. Training lights were subsequently installed courtesy of the Start Program.
