Rationale
In addition to the club’s Player Code of Conduct, our club is committed to creating a safe, respectful and positive atmosphere in which players, officials, members and families can thrive. This Policy will help to ensure the club:
• Meets its duty of care in relation to the health and safety of our members and others who attend, participate in or officiate in club football games.
• Upholds the reputation of the club, sponsors, partners and Good Sports.
• Understands the risks associated with inappropriate behaviour and our role in minimising this risk.
Accordingly, the following policy shall apply to provide a safe environment by the club to its members and promoted at the club, the following Policy requirements will apply.
Policy Statement
RKCFC OFFICIALS AND SPECTATORS DURING MATCHES ARE EXPECTED TO COMMIT TO THE FOLLOWING BEHAVIOURS:
• Demonstrate respect for officials, be they from the Rowville Knights, the EFNL or a competing club.
• Not engage in unsportsmanlike language, harassment or aggressive behaviour.
• Encourage players to play by the rules and to respect umpires, opposition players and officials.
• Never ridicule or scorn a player for making a mistake.
• Not to commit or undertake actions that may lead to verbal altercations, physical altercations, violent or illegal acts.
• Understand that sport is part of a total life experience, and the benefits of involvement go far beyond the final score of a game.
• Participate in positive cheering that encourages the players in the team you are supporting; do not engage in any cheering that taunts or intimidates opponents, their fans or officials.
• Remember that children participate for their own enjoyment.
• At all times, follow the directions of the Ground Manager and/or other duty officials.
• Never arrive at a game under the influence of alcohol or consume alcohol at junior matches.
Responsibility
It is the responsibility of all RKCFC officials and spectators to comply with this policy. Officials and spectators found to have behaved inappropriately, may face disciplinary action including the withdrawal or suspension of membership the Rowville Knights Football Club and suspension from attending matches.
