Rowville Knights Community Football Club Player Code of Conduct.

Rationale

The Rowville Knights Community Football Club (“the Club”) recognises that social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Team App, Team Stuff and Instagram have become important and influential communication channels for our community and our club. To assist in posting content and managing these sites, the Club has developed policies and guidelines for official and personal use of social media.

These policies and guidelines apply to the Rowville Knights Community Football Club committee, coaches, managers, assistants, players, families and membership (“RKCFC members”).

Policy Statement

  • The purpose of using these communication channels on behalf of the Rowville Knights Community Football Club is to support the club’s mission, goals, programs, and sanctioned efforts, including club news, information, content and objectives.
  • Prior to engaging in managing any form of social media on behalf of the Rowville Knights Community Football Club, RKCFC members must receive permission from the executive committee by contacting admin@rowvilleknights.org.au.
  • When using an officially recognised social media channel, RKCFC members are to assume at all times that they are representing the Rowville Knights Community Football Club and hold responsibility for upholding the values and reputation of the Club.
  • The Rowville Knights has two Facebook channels, one being a public page that can be followed by any Facebook user and the other a group that requires club approval to join. RKCFC members are encouraged to join the Facebook group.
  • Confidential or proprietary club information or similar information of third parties, who have shared such information with you on behalf of the Rowville Knights Community Club, should not be shared publicly on these social media channels.
  • The Rowville Knights Community Football Club’s main social media accounts may choose to post club related social media content generated by the committee, coaching staff and/or players/parents. The Rowville Knights Community Football Club’s main social media accounts can be accessed through the club’s website and include:
  • When posting or commenting on one of the Club’s social media accounts, RKCFC members are expected to:
    • Exercise discretion, thoughtfulness and respect for peers, committee, fans, opponents, coaching staff and the club’s supporters/community at all times
    • Refrain from reporting, speculating, discussing or giving any opinions on the Rowville Knights Community Football Club’s topics or personalities that could be considered sensitive, confidential or disparaging
    • Avoid discussing or speculating on internal team or club policies or operations
    • Refrain from engaging in dialogue that could disparage peers, committee members, fans, opponents, EFNL/AFL umpires and officials, coaching staff and the club’s supporters/community
    • Be mindful that all posted content is subject to review in accordance with the Rowville Knights Community Football Club’s Code of Conduct and other club policies.
  • The Rowville Knights Community Football Club’s logos and/or visual identity cannot be used for personal social media without the club’s permission.
  • RKCFC members’ personal social media accounts are not an appropriate channels to distribute club news. RKCFC members with information and news to announce to the public or media can contact admin@rowvilleknights.org.au.
  • The Rowville Knights Community Football Club does not monitor personal websites but will address issues that violate established Club policies and guidelines.
  • The Rowville Knights Community Football Club encourages players, committee members, fans, opponents, coaching staff and the club’s supporters/community (social media fans) to use social media but reminds users that at any time they can be perceived as a spokesperson of the Rowville Knights Community Football Club.
  • If RKCFC members have any doubt about posting content on these social media sites they should contact admin@rowvilleknights.org.au.

Responsibility

Implementation of this policy is the responsibility of all RKCFC members. RKCFC members found to have contravened this policy may face disciplinary action including the withdrawal or suspension of membership the Rowville Knights Football Club.

Policy Review

This policy was reviewed and approved by the Rowville Knights Community Football Club Executive Committee in June 2021.

This policy is reviewed tri-annually to ensure it remains relevant to club operations and reflects the EFNL By-Laws.

Next policy review date is: June 2024
