Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL) By-Law 9 ‘Match Cancellation – Adverse Weather Conditions’.

Rationale

This Policy provides the basis for an informed and responsible approach to Adverse Weather Conditions at Rowville Knights CFC games, training, events and activities. This in turn will provide a safe environment for all club players, officials, members and families to play and enjoy football.

This Policy will help to ensure the club:

- Meets its duty of care in relation to the health and safety of our members and others who attend our club and events.
- Upholds the reputation of the club, sponsors, partners and Good Sports.
- Understands the risks associated with adverse weather conditions and our role in minimising this risk.

Accordingly, the following policy shall apply to provide a safe environment by the club to its members and promoted at the club, the following Policy requirements will apply.

Policy Statement

- If the air temperature, as broadcast by the Bureau of Meteorology, is below 5 degrees Celsius or in excess of 35 degrees Celsius on a training night, one hour prior to training, training will be cancelled by each team’s coach or an official with responsibility delegated by the team’s coach.
- Where the temperature is in excess of 30 degrees Celsius but no higher than 35 degrees Celsius, coaches may choose to conduct a low intensity training session or cancel training.
- Training is not to be conducted if the weather conditions have become too hazardous (e.g. lightning and/or thunder in the vicinity, heavy hail), training may recommence once the weather hazards have cleared.
- Coaches have the option of cancelling or modifying training in all other adverse weather conditions.

Responsibility

Implementation of this policy is the responsibility of team coaches.

Policy Review

This policy was reviewed and approved by the Rowville Knights Community Football Club Executive Committee in June 2021.

This policy is reviewed tri-annually to ensure it remains relevant to club operations and reflects the EFNL By-Laws.

Next policy review date is: June 2024
